I’m living abroad and will hit the tier point threshold for gold the next time I fly long haul. I need to hit the 4 BA segments and codeshares haven’t really been available.
So my question is which European destination has the cheapest rates and/or frequency. AMS, MAD, CDG etc. This is not a tier point run so economy is fine!
Thank you.
Do you literally mean European, or simply short haul?
I haven’t looked at specific dates. but Dublin is available for less than £30 each way, Luxembourg £33 most months. Belfast and other internal flights to Manchester, Edinburgh or Aberdeen can also be cheap on the less sociable flight times.

I mean short haul. I have a house in Manchester so a connecting flight each way through lhr should do the trick.
IB flights coded as BA flight numbers will count, others will know which other airlines’ flights will count as BA flights if booked with a BA flight number.

Sorry I accidentally clicked report instead of quote!!
I can fly into anywhere that Qatar serves so i’ll have a look. Madrid cheapest with IB?

Last time I checked the UK was in Europe?? 😁
Where are you coming from, sorry if I’ve missed this?!
Whenever I’ve priced up MAD-MAN on ba.com, the IB service comes out at over £100, compared to £30ish. booking direct with IB.
I thought the 4 BA flights had to be BA metal, but may well be wrong.
The “low fare finder” facility on the BA website is a great planning tool; it shows you the cheapest routes with a breakdown of prices for each day. I got some really good BAH deals this year from choosing the cheapest days to fly.

Probably best not to start that debate 😂 I think most people would not consider a flight between two UK airports to be a European flight, even though literally it is of course.
They can often cost more than flights to other European countries as well!
When I qualified for Silver 2 years ago I needed 2 more BA sectors so booked the cheapest same-day HBO return MAN-LHR. They weren’t very convenient times but it worked out about £45 each for the cheapest legs compared with £300 or so for the most expensive!

Yes lets stay on topic 😂😂

I’ll be going from asia and back with qatar/cathay so will fly into an appropriate airport and connect to manchester from there so just looking at possible destinations.
Forgot about the Low fare finder I’ll start with that.
Thanks guys
I found LYS one of the cheapest European destination when I was booking BAH’s last year. CDG and AMS might also be good as very competitive, and of course very short flights.
Remember as well that some BA departures are from LGW which would make it a real PITA to connect to MAN!
The BA lowest fare finder seems to be getting quietly phased out, as there is no data for next July or August. Anyone know of any simple alternatives?
Google Flights can do the same thing, but the BA page is very clear and simple to use.
That’s a pain! Maybe it was hurting profits 🤷♀️
@NorthernLass – the 4 flights have to be on BA metal, or have a BA code, or be on IB metal and with an IB code.
Any codeshare with a BA flight number is fine, whoever the airline operating is.
