Hello, I think this one is an easy one for you, HfPers. 🙂
We are arriving in LHR, rather late and will be hiring a car from LHR the next day so no point for us getting into central London.
I am planning to use up my orphan point before Creation/IHG is ceased. Can you advise the most suitable IHG to stay near LHR for a family of 3, with a 1 year old? It is only one night. I am looking at Staybridge Suites due to the room size and breakfast included (not Diamond) but not sure about commuting from T5? Any experiences or advices are much appreciated.
The one at 276a Bath Road West Drayton, UB7 0DQ is pretty new, it’s a shared building with a Holiday Inn. I thought it was fine, but I’m pretty undemanding.
TFL buses to both T2/T3 and T5 from near outside.
Recently stayed in the West Drayton one, the room was nice and practical. Breakfast is your typical HIX quality.
Highly recommend if you just needed a night + parking.
Id go for Crown Plaza/Holiday Inn attached to T4: same reception area but clearly different rooms. Last time at CP (diamond) got breakfast upgrade /2 free dinks/snacks at the bar /suite upgrade and a great night’s kip
The Staybridge Suites on Bath Road is decent, and I imagine having the kitchen area would be useful with a 1 year old. Have you already seen Rob’s reviews?
I believe one of the rental car companies is right next door to the hotel now, using the hotel’s former parking area, so that might be convenient if it is the right rental car company. Avis perhaps? We’ve just taken the normal red London bus to and from T5, even with luggage, but if that happens to be where you are renting a car from the next day perhaps you could take the rental car shuttle bus from T5? The staff are helpful and have also upgraded us to a 1 bedroom suite both times as Diamond.
In my experience the T4 CP/HIE is more expensive than the Bath Road Staybridge/HI.
Both are relatively new & in good condition. Assuming no huge cost difference Staybridge would be my 1st choice with a small child then the attached HI in a family room which have a sort of sofa bed.
Most of the car rental parking areas are on/around Bath Rd so easier for someone to go & grab car the next morning.

+1, I found it very quiet and comfortable and the food in the restaurant was very good for an airport hotel (as per the HFP review!). I’ve got 2 more bookings there this year as it actually was the cheapest option when I booked, both on cash and points (and I used one of the £75 Amex offers as well), especially as you can get to T3 and T5 free on the tube.
Thanks very much everyone for the recommendation. I’m swayed toward Staybridge due to being the room size and kitchen but yes it is a tad expensive with point. I think I am 1700 short for the date I’m looking. 😀

@Vit you can just go for the ‘points plus cash’ option then – simples!
If staying at Staybridge, another transport/shuttle option from T5 would be the (free) Heathrow Long Stay bus/coach running about once every 20 minutes during normal hours.
You could alight at the Long Stay Car Park bus stop closest to the adjacent “Business Car Park” and cross over the raised pavement into the Business Car Park and exit by walking around the exit barriers and directly crossing the road. The entrance to Staybridge Suites will be directly ahead of you a short walk easily done with luggage.
