Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Best non-US chance to get a Club Suite

  • RG 70 posts

I’ve lost track of the Club Suite rollout now. Basically, I have 1x 241 expiring next year, and from next year a change in my strategy in my long haul to a focus on cheaper cash tickets as opposed to redemptions, means it’ll likely be my last.

Every single one of my previous 241s have been in the godawful Y-Y config in club. So, excluding the USA – what is a good route that will likely have a club suite, even if metal gets swapped out.

With the usual disclaimer that nothing is guaranteed and any route or individual flight could be swapped, basically anything using a 777 will be guaranteed CS by next Spring, or a 787-10 providing it sticks.

There are only two 777’s left now with the CW seats, which are pretty certain to be converted over the winter (the first of the final set of three is currently underway). Chances with a 787-8 will improve over time, but won’t be high for a long time yet.

As an example of uncertainty, I recently booked a trip to Boston, with a choice three flights all CS at the time. Guess which one has just been switched to an A380 with CW? Inevitably the one I picked!

Also any A350, as far as I understand. I haven’t been to the USA with BA in years, but have done a few J long haul flights with them to elsewhere and they have all been Club Suite.

    Nassau, Nairobi, Singapore, etc.

Good point they completely slipped my mind as I was thinking about conversions. Yes all the A350’s are CS.

However Nassau in the short term is one of the regular haunts of the remaining pair of CW 777’s.

Don’t forget there’s pretty much 0 chance out of Gatwick, the 777 won’t be refurbished.

About 70% of the Heathrow Long Haul fleet has CS

787-9 or A380 are guaranteed not to have it

chances for 787-8 will improve through 2025 with probably 3/11 complete this year and 1 every 6 weeks from the new year.

Sounds interesting, and appreciaiting this is a points forum, care to share your thinking?

I’m not doing well today on one of my pet subjects 🙂 I subconsciously assumed all frequent flyer forum users know that excluding the occasional maintenance stand in the LGW long haul fleet is all CW, but agree well worth pointing out as that is not a valid assumption.

I’ve moved beyond Hadrians Wall, so it’s just as straight forward for me to fly to Ireland (for US flights and pre-clearance), AMS for SkyTeam flights, direct on Qatar thru DOH or up to Helsinki for further East – than it is to fly down to LHR. With the latter two still earning me tierpoints.

There’s one day per week when the NAS flight is old CW, might be a Saturday but don’t hold me to that!

You can always do a dummy cash booking on your preferred route and it will take you to seat selection before the payment page. Though obviously you can still get equipment changes later.

I’ve said it before but my absolute favourite J seat ever was the bulkhead window seat on the upper deck of the A380 (53K?) If you can get that it’s like a mini cabin in itself, with much more personal space than CS!
