Hey
Does anybody know if there is a better time to book direct flights to Tokyo from Uk.
These will be normal cash flights for the end of January 2025. Right now it’s about £960 return BA from LHR.
Is it likely to go down if I wait it out?
Sorry if it’s a crystal ball question but maybe someone has some experience. Cheers
£960 seems to be the price right now for direct.
Check with BA Holidays (add a hotel the day before in LHR for instance), you may find the prices are similar but 1) you get luggage 2) you may have access to JAL inventory at the same price.

Can’t seem to find a hotel at LHR only adding hotels in Tokyo. This on BA Holidays website ye?
You need to use the multi city / custom trip option to add a LHR hotel or have a hotel for a different duration to the flights
Use this: https://www.britishairways.com/badp/complexItineraries/search.do?fromBAEntryPoint=true
– Add your origin and destination
– Add a hotel in LHR the night before the first flight (up to you, you can put a hotel in TOK for 1 night or any other city and never show up tbh – you could even put a hotel somewhere cheap!)
You can also try to add other flights. For instance: LHR-HND-ITM, ITM-HND, HND-LHR. You may find that is similar in price to LHR-HND and back.
Tickets have only just gone on sale, and prices seem high to me. Personally, I would wait.
Also, if the prices are similar, fly with JAL, not BA.
On a BA 777 the seats are 10 abreast in economy, with a seat width of 17.3″ and a seat pitch of 31″
On a JAL 777 the seats are 9 abreast in economy, with a seat width of 18.5″ and a seat pitch of 34″
You could be in that seat for 15 hours when you fly home!
On the Dreamliner/787, JAL have 8 abreast seating in a 2-4-2 configuration. (BA is 9 abreast)
Personally, if I was flying in Y, I would happily pay an extra £100 to fly with JAL for the extra comfort, better food, and excellent service.

Thank you ☺️
That’s interesting to know, there isn’t much difference at all in price. I guess I wouldn’t get the 3 x avios booking using my BAPP card thou.
Also need ski carriage i need to see what the prices are from JAL and BA

The evening JAL outbound flight will also be a lot gentler from a jetlag perspective.
You can select the JAL flights by booking through BA. They are code shares. BA will charge you and issue the tickets, so you will get the triple Avios if you pay with your BAPP. You will also earn Avios and tier points for the flights if you use your BAEC number on the booking.
