There are four of us going to SA and despite getting them to sign up and spend they are well short of their 241 voucher. Hopeless springs to mind!
I guess that I could book all four seats (Gold member) and then nab four seats close together in BC but they naturally want the BAspend/Avios!
So yes I can book ours and they can book theirs albeit paying more (we’ve agreed to share the overall cost) I can nab seats in BC when booking but is there any way that I can secure four seats close together or will it be a case of telling them which row our seats are in and getting them to pay for their seats nearby.
    Any mileage in phoning BA?

    TIA

Since you are gold you can call up and ask BA “To Complete Party” which will enable them to allocate seats for you all together.

They would need to make you a 3rd party nominee on their BAEC account to allow you to do this.

All this does if to sort out the seating. It doesn’t get them your gold baggage allowance for example which they would get if this was all one one booking

Many thanks and yes they know they won’t get gold baggage and I’m still hoping they will just let me do the one booking and forgo the Avios points

If you added one night at a hotel, or a hire car, could you book it as BA holiday?
Then you would pay the deposit, and then use each person’s card to make a payment towards the balance of the holiday (assuming BA lets you you use cards in different names – I don’t know if this is true, but someone else might know). You would even get some extra Avios for your trouble, and each person would get the spending crediting on their card for Avios and progress towards their companion voucher.

Are the flights going to be booked with cash or avios?

We’re looking at using up one of our 241 but the other couple will be cash.

Not sure if you can use two credit cards to pay for one booking but will keep investigating.

You can’t use 2 cards to pay for a 241 booking as technically it’s supposed to be the same cardholder that holds the voucher! For other kinds of award bookings I suppose you could call and ask if the agent would split the payment, I have no idea if this is possible!

For the cash bookings a BA holiday would work and as suggested above could be paid off in chunks with any card. For flights only you’d need to make separate bookings to use more than one card.

How short of their 241 are they?
