Hi, my dad currently has around 75k points in his BAEC account, which he will never use. What’s the best way to transfer these points to my account please?
I’ve read you can transfer 27,000 points per year for a £15 fee but obviously that would take me around 3 years to transfer them all. Is that the only/best way for me to get his points into my account so i can use them?
Thanks
I assume he’s happy for you to use them? 😅
Have him join a household account with you.
Find a place to book a flight to (that you actually intend to fly).
Move out all of your avios (to avios.com, Iberia, Qatar) except those needed on top of your dad’s 75k to make the booking. Eg, if the flight is 125k avios, leave 50k in your account (125k-75k).
Book the flight and it will pro-rata use up points from both accounts…but as you have only left exactly the amount required it will use them all up from both accounts.
Move your avios back to BAEC and cancel the household account when you can.
Be aware that if you cancel the flight any avios returned will be sent to the individual accounts they originally came from.
I wouldn’t bother with transferring avios in and out it just complicates things.
Just add him to your HHA and allow the 75k to be used up as and when you make redemptions or use avios to reduce the price of a flight or holiday.
You could suggest he transfers the Avios to Nectar and he can spend them at Sainsbury’s, Argos or ebay.
No need to spend money to transfer points, just create a household account.

no need to create a household account. Add yourself to his friends and family list, and get him to book your flights if the flights you want is less than his balance.
Thanks everyone. My dad definitely wont be using the points so is fine with me using them all.
My intention was to use my points 80k and his points 75k (so a total of 155k points) to book long haul business class flights for me and my partner within the next 2 years using my BAPP 2-4-1 voucher.
So would making a household account be the best/easiest way to do this then?
Thanks
