Booking Emirates Reward Flight with Avios?

Hi,

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, I’m new to this!

I’m visiting a friend in Sydney then we’re travelling to New Zealand in November and I want to surprise him by taking him on the Emirates fifth freedom flight from Sydney to Christchurch in first class.

I’ve tried to find the reward flight on BA and Qatar as Qantas operate a codeshare on the route so I was hoping to redeem via this method but it appears I can’t.

Does any have any other methods that I’m missing out on? Thanks!

Emirates is not part of the oneworld alliance so you cannot use avios to book reward flights with them.
In some circumstances you can earn avios flying Emirates.
