Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Booking Iberia using BA 2 for 1 – 360 days?

  • 223 posts

    Hi all,

    I believe that Iberia seats get released earlier than BA does – 355 as opposed to 360 or something like that?

    I also believe that by calling, the agent could see availability that is not available visually online when trying to use a 2 for 1.

    Am I making this up, did I misread, or is this correct and highly useful to try?

    Thanks!

    Same principle applies for say, standard BA booking?

    I might have to use 2 for 1 to book an outbound then call up and do a return then merge and refund etc etc.

    PS – since it’s a 2 for 1 I am confined to the BA portal or calling BA, so I guess the earliest I can get is 360 days which is still almost a week extra compared to looking online.

    Also – does anyone know the time they come out at T-360? Is it midnight UK time, or is it 11pm for us currently in case it uses well, Spanish time. Although it might change come the end of the month too.

    I was hoping it’d be easier to use Iberia but everything seems taken there too..

    No there is no set time that the IB flights get released to BA and as I said its around 360/1 days so try UK at 11.00 am, we even had a period when they weren’t released …

    I’d be ringing up and booking the return onto the outbound PNR and yes if you want to use a 2-4-1 then you are confined to going via BA.

    @Simey just out of curiosity, what route are you trying to book and for when?

    I had a look at 241 Avios flights to the US the other day for example and availability was very low.

    Very little in business, or there’d be business one way and not for the other.

    Looking to book Tokyo with IB – seems harder than anticipated but hopefully more possible than doing it with BA.

    Yeah, availability is not as good as I thought it would be, but BA is even worse so it’s an option of hard or harder in reality with points bookings for me so far.

    So I checked last night – IB website “unlocked” the next bookable day at UK midnight time. So I can use that as an initial starting point.

    Possibly Tokyo as the chances here are higher than BA. But the availability is low indeed, only 2 seats / flight and only 3 flights in and out a week as opposed to BA with I think 4 seats / day? But BA route would need more Avios to book then merge which I do not have!

    @Simey which month?

    @Simey which month?

    We probably are looking for Oct / Nov 2025 – I already checked on IB site. All seats are taken in Biz. They only release 2 so it’s not much!

    Will have to rely on an agent for sure.

    If IB’s bookings for the T-360 open at midnight UK time, and the UK call centre closes just at 23:59 – is there an expectation that if I get on the line just before that, the agent would help me for the 10-15 minutes this should take? Means I don’t have to try the US here. I assume they don’t disconnect the line at 23:59 regardless of what happens if someone is talking to me?
