Hi all, staying in Orlando at the moment and encountered an odd situation.
I am staying at a Tribute Portfolio hotel as Platinum Elite, where the benefits are pretty clear (at least to me it seems) – “1,000 Points per Stay or amenity per Stay or breakfast in restaurant per night of Stay for Member +1 (including Resorts)” or if not offered, the Guest Compensation is $100 (cash). Not $46 (the value of the vouchers for two). The voucher doesn’t cover a genuine full breakfast as I would normally have it, no doubt (in fact I cant even have a coffee, I paid for those over the past days – thats poor). I looked and the hotel is selling bed and breakfast rates, even though no actual breakfast is offered. These people would apparently also receive these $23pp vouchers as the hotel doesnt have a restaurant as such they argue – a Starbucks with an extended a la carte menu basically.
Am I just being greedy to complain that I did expect a full restaurant breakfast in line with the elite benefits defined in the Marriott terms and conditions? Anyone encountered anything similar? Is this acceptable? I wrote to the hotel via chat, but they’re just saying thats what everyone gets so live with it.
Does the brand standard for Tribute require them to have a restaurant?
It’s always in the US where this monetary value BS gets pulled. Call Marriott and see where you get to, worth a try to get their take on the situation. Ask for a case ref number which is what the hotel manager will see on an incoming request from Marriott. I believe hotels are bound to respond to Marriott on such requests and IIRC get charged for the number opened about their property.
