This new service will be available as of some point in April 2024
This will be available worldwide throughout British Airways’ fleet, so it will be available on short haul and long haul flights
This will be available to all British Airways Executive Club members
This will allow unlimited text-based messages through popular messaging apps, including Apple’s iMessage, Meta’s WhatsApp and Messenger, etc.

Great news for those who like to keep in touch.

    A) did you need to post a link to a rival blog ? 🙂
    B) Thank god it’s just messaging for those that can’t help but feel they need to be the centre of attention and be in touch all the time. (It’s handy I admit to be able to tell people exactly how delayed one is thanks to BAs excellent punctuality record.

For a moment there I read it as Free Inflight Massaging.
But No, BA isn’t doing a Virgin. Even though, just briefly, I did a double take 🙂

If the news isn’t here it seems fair enough. What’s Wi-Fi got to do with attention seeking? If you mean calls they’ve always been banned?

It’s not WiFi it’s messaging, hence the attention seeking toc brigade still wont be able to live stream. And there are always ways around things easily possible to call on some jailbreak apps.
The news is here in the forum and will be in one of the three pieces today.

Not sure why the need for such negativity in an otherwise positive piece of news. I for one am very pleased with the ability to message on the ground for multiple reasons.

If they’ve got any nous, it’s a taster to paying £5 for full access (without streaming/video). Like they do long-haul. Can’t say I use the free access in F much, but I’m sure economy passengers will love it.

    Good marketing tool

Very positive and welcome move from BA I think.
