I signed up for the Royal Jordanian status match to the equivalent of Bronze – I’m due to fly to Tenerife from LGW next Saturday morning, but I’m unable to book my seats for free after adding my details a few days ago via Air Maroc. This is the first time I’m trying to use my RJ status so wonder if it’s user error?
When I’m at the Seat Selection stage in manage my booking, it literally says: You can pay to choose your seats now. Alternatively, you can book your seat for free from 7 days before departure.
I’m confused as the flight is definitely less than 7 days (08:50 departure) away but I’m still seeing seat prices. My wife is the lead passenger, but have logged in through her account and see exactly the same.
Any thoughts / ideas / help before I speak to the helpline?
I can’t help, but if you don’t get any answers here, there are lots of posts on selecting seats with RJ on the relevant threads. I haven’t been following this as not joined RJ (yet)!
@lamptonpie – have you tried since 08.50, as the seven day seat selection won’t become available until the departure time a week ahead. Alternatively, have you checked that the FF number was properly recorded via RAM. If none of that applies, then chat should be able to resolve.

Yep – tried on the dot of 8.50 and have tried since to no avail. Have checked both RAM and directly in the booking and can see my RJ FFP number in there. Will give the chat team a shout. Thanks
What happens if you select them, then proceed to the payment page?
I’ve a feeling I had this issue in the past (not RJ) and found that once on the payment page it recognised the status and the cost changed to zero.

This rings a bell with me too, think I’ve read this somewhere on a forum.
@lamptonpie My experience has been mixed (have RJ GS) with seat bookings – sometimes I can book seats straight away no problem after changing the FFN via RAM and sometimes I have to log out of my BA account and back in again a couple of times before I can select seats. This has all been using the BA app. So I think it might be a BA IT issue not an RJ-specific issue – it does work eventually
Turns out that my status with RJ hadn’t updated properly to ‘Silver Jay’. Took a bit of detective work but got there in the end… thanks for the help and suggestions all.
I had this happen. Reached out via Twitter and BA categorically told me that RJ status doesn’t allow seat selection, despite its OneWorld equivalence. Obviously this was complete nonsense (surprise, surprise with BA on Twitter), so had to get the seats sorted via another method.
