Forums Payment cards American Express Business Card – Dell £50 credit and half year cut-off

I’m a bit annoyed by the £50 Dell statement credit offer. It’s supposed to run in two periods 1st Jan – 30 Jun, and 1st Jul – 31 Dec. I made a purchase at 4pm on 30th June, for an item which was in stock and supposedly dispatched the same day. Transaction appeared as pending straight away, got the trigger email for the other Dell offer (10% credit), and received an invoice from Dell dated 30th June.

Today the item arrives, and I decide to check Amex… of course, transaction date is listed as 1st July. I contacted Amex to see if it will count as the previous period, but was told it would not.

I’m annoyed, because I did everything to ensure that the transaction goes through on the 30th, but now I’m being screwed over by Dell/Amex. Does anyone know what happens if I return the item? The £50 will of course not post or be reversed, but will I still be able to use the offer until the end of December?

Well, for such situations, I think the consensus is not to risk it — it’s your time and money, why bother chasing after…
just do it few days before the cut time.
