I have a return trip booked with Avios, booked as WT outbound and CE return. I now want to upgrade outbound to CE but if I cannot, I might be able to book a new one way on Avios in CE. If I do not show for outbound, is my return cancelled? Advice welcome. Thanks
The inbound would be cancelled if you just failed to show up for the outbound. However, if there’s CE availability, you can just call BA and ask them to upgrade you for the extra avios and fees, plus £35 pp change fee.
*Just to clarify – you are travelling short-haul economy (ET) and want to upgrade to business (CE)?
Thank you @NL – your assumption was correct. It sounds odd but it is all about luggage allowance! Problem solved now and I appreciate the speedy response, which did help me.
They may not even charge the change fee but if they do then nothing you can do.
But depending on how much cash there is involved then it might be cheaper to cancel and rebook the whole trip.
If you do that online or should tell you the cash loss as part of the process but before confirming the cancellation.
