Can I upgrade one leg of an Avios booking?

I have TYO-LON-ARN booked in economy using avios. Business is available for TYO-LON.

Avios availability is no longer available for LON-ARN on the date booked.

Can I change the TYO-LON leg to business and and keep LON-ARN on the same booking?

Pretty sure this is fine as BA prices by segment and doesn’t use “married” availability

You’ll need to call up – note you’re changing the booking not upgrading in this scenario, will pay £35pp fee + the price difference

Forgot to mention the TYO leg is on a partner (JAL) so in this case it’s a case of cancel and re-book (hoping avios availability reappears for the full itinerary).
