I have some economy flights booked for later in the year which I paid for in cash + Avios points. I was thinking of changing of them to premium economy and I think the only way is to cancel the economy ones and then rebook premium economy. I want to reuse the points from the original booking and not sure how long it takes for them to be available to use once I have cancelled as I want to book the premium economy while there is availability. I have tried contacting BA but cannot get an answer through email or even writing to them directly.
I’m assuming you mean you went through the rewards flight booking options and picked a flight there using Avios + cash? And you see WT+ availabily there too now?
If so, you don’t need to cancel, call up and select the options to change an Avios booking. They’ll amend them to WT+ for you. Don’t mention “upgrading” – you’re doing a booking change. They’ll take the different in Avios and fees. I find calling in the evening around 7pm quite easy to get through

Having tried this route it looks like this is not possible, even though it is only a class change, which the representative said at the start of the call could easily be done at no charge. The reason given is that I booked the original tickets using Cash + Avios and the system does not allow them to change. The only way is to cancel the flights and then re-book the same flight at WT+ and incur £35 x 3 charge for cancelling. Seems absurd to me and a great way to get £105 for simply changing the class of the booking.
Does anyone now how long it takes for the AVIOS points to reappear in my account after cancelling, just so I can use them again on the rebooking
