Arrived at the Centurion Lounge at LHR T3 at 12:45. We were hoping they would do scrambled eggs, sausages etc but breakfast ends at 11:30am.

All they had was curry and meat for make your own Greek giros.

I do love a good curry from a proper restaurant but not mass produced slop from a buffet.

We were really looking to our first visit there so really disappointed with the minimal food available.

We then tried the No 1 lounge but it was full, so we went to the Aspire which had similar food to the Centurion.

So now we’re waiting for avocado toast with poached egg in Spuntino!

So to remind you, meat is considered expensive and a luxury in some parts of the world, even in the UK. The Centurion lounge and Aspire offered food which includes meat, sounds like value for money. Whats the big deal again?

So you tired the curry and it was slop? Being part of a buffet should have no impact on the quality.

I had a curry in T5B the other week and was perfectly fine. most Indian families do make curries in large quantities in fact I bet the best curry you’ll ever have is produced in huge qualities and served at your local gurudwara.

Ending breakfast at 11.30 seems a late time to end such a service let alone close to 1pm which is undoubtedly in the lunchtime spectrum of times.

Many hotels end it at 10.00 for example.

IIRC airline lounges end it in the morning as well

I’m sure a curry from an Indian family would be delicious but I was surprised by the lack of choice in what is meant to be one of the best lounges.

All day breakfasts are a thing and we had avocado toast with a poached egg in a restaurant in the main terminal area.

All day breakfast is a thing but not in lounges. They follow the usual breakfast, Lunch, afternoon tea, dinner logic.

BTW I didn’t think you were turning your nose up at curry I just meant don’t just write it off because it’s a buffet as well done curries are actually perfect for buffets. Even roti can be but not naan in my Experience, they have to be pretty fresh.

The narrow choice is because they are places to relax and have a small bite / drink not really full meal choices for all.

I can’t speak of centurion recently but have to say T5B choice was pretty varied and decent quality more than good enough, veggie, vegan, chicken, pies, canapés and wide salad choice to keep pretty much everyone happy.

Even found the breakfast choices in DXB BA lounge simple but well executed. Soft scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, potatoes and beans. Nothing exciting nothing complicated and with a splash of Tabasco and salt and pepper a filling and satisfying pre flight breakfast (far better than the crap on board in J)

Centurion T3 food in general has gone downhill in the last six months. For me, it’s now a little bit above BA lounge in T3. I have no problem with any of the dishes, but they are using different cheaper ingredients for all of their dishes (even breakfast), buffet presentation makes everything unappealing and the service is very slow and quite off at times.

You really haven’t missed anything in terms of breakfast.

I think this is at the root of your issue.

Centurion is a very generic lounge offering – if you were expecting ‘one of the best’ lounges, then you have been misled and it will not meet expectations.

It is much more akin to a No 1 lounge or Aspire lounge than a Virgin clubhouse or Concorde room.

Of course Amex had to make a feature in top 5 reviews, take it with a pinch of salt

It was good after it first opened (my third favourite after Cathay & Qantas) but now they have a queueing system and no way to tell you how long the wait is. Doesn’t feel very Platinum. This is where BA silver status or cheap Avios CE flights come in handy, as the lounges are a step above and no queuing!
