I was at LAX and denied entry into the Centurion lounge as it was more than 3 hours before my flight departure. The entry was immediately after security, so thought I’d just have a look before going to the BA lounge. They wouldn’t let me in even after I suggested I would be staying far less than 3 hours.
What are others experiences of this?
How close were you to the three hours? Or how early were you? When I was in LAS we were about 15-20 minutes early but they let us in without any problem.

About an hour. It seemed quite chaotic at the time, they denied a British family of 4 just before us for some unknown reason.
Isn’t this a common theme in the US. I’ve yet to visit the Miami one as in 4 or 5 trips have found a queue on the main terminal floor for the lift to the lounge, no idea if there’s further queuing once out the lift. Earlier this year the one in Denver was a short wait, less than 5 minutes, but the lounge was near capacity and shared a table with 3 others that were not together. I think it was Las Vegas but a previous lounge visit was the same, gained entry but struggled to find a seat.
Sorry I realise this is not your exact experience, just a random post on Amex lounge capacity in the USA, which in turn I suspect led to your entry denied.
No need to apologise, it’s a useful data point, I should have broadened out my question to experiences in general. This will certainly add to my valuation model for the Plat!
I guess another 6 months before the rules on additional cards make their impact?
You arrived a full hour before you were allowed to enter… What is so hard to understand here?

He many times do you think they’ve heard this?
The access rules are very clear on the Amex website. Access only within 3 hours of departure
Entering the Centurion lounges in the US is a big hit and miss in my experience. We always “barely” make it to the LGA one and there is always some wait. Plus it is always crowded.
Well it is Amex and it is the US.
Same 3 hour rule at LHR T3, unless arrived on a connection.

LGA is the only US one I’ve used- and my experience was quiet and very good!
