Does anyone know if it is possible for an agent to rebook a 241 booking so that it is only for one person on the booking, without having to cancel the flights and rebook with the danger of losing the reward seat availability?
Are you asking whether the companion can simply be removed (thus effectively wasting the avios value of the voucher), or the journey rebooked so that the voucher holder can use the 50% avios discount? I think the first option is possible but the second would need a cancellation first.
Preferably the journey rebooked with half the avios and taxes/fees returned. I presume even just removing the companion and wasting the voucher would be tricky as it would involve a refund of the taxes/fees.
You can have the companion removed and fees refunded, it’s not that difficult, but clearly doesn’t make a lot of sense.
Where are you heading? Don’t forget the 241 might unlock extra availability in CW, so you could be lucky in cancelling and rebooking. If you post your travel dates and airport, someone with an unused voucher may well have a look for you.
You could then do the whole thing online and not need to call BA.
@doctorbee – it can be done but, as ever, some agents don’t have the requisite knowledge or willingness to execute this change. Once they have split the booking, they can sort out the rest in the manner you want – using the voucher for 50% and just one set of fees with the rest refunded.
I haven’t done it myself but know someone who has, so as I wasn’t on the call I’m not sure precisely what BA did in the background. There weren’t any available reward seats to make it simpler, but I don’t know if the agent cancelled two and got one back.
