I’m off to Sydney in a couple of weeks on Malaysia airlines (cash ticket in J). I’ve booked using my BA club details as I’m silver and need the additional baggage allowance.
However, I think IB is going to be my status strategy for next year rather than BA… so is it possible to benefit from BA status for baggage but credit the flight to IB? Appreciate it may be a long shot (esp since I’ll be at Delhi check in trying to swap between two programmes neither of which are the operating airline!)Thanks all!

For the collection year beginning April 2026? If yes, then why bother now with the swapping, as the upcoming flights will credit to the April 2025-March 2026 collection year
No, for this year (to earn status for this and next year). I haven’t actually done any oneworld points-earning flights this collection year as have been in Delhi since April.
@TokyoFan – MH would usually be far more adept than BA at adding a second number to your booking with BA for benefits and IB for earning. If they are unable or unwilling to do this in advance, they should just be able to swap numbers after check-in.

Yes, you can have two FF numbers per person in a booking – there are two separate fields – one for benefits and the other for points accrual. By default, BA would populate both fields with your BA number and while this can be changed but BA is the least capable or willing to assist. MH more amenable.
