Some pretty steep looking devaluations reported by LoyaltyLobby for Hilton redemptions.

Waldorf Maldives showing 200k points for standard rewards.

If anyone status matched to LH recently, they have sent out a targeted offer to get 100k miles if you fly on 7 LH group airlines within 3 months.

    – Lufthansa
    – Brussels Airlines
    – Austrian Airlines
    – Eurowings
    – Swiss
    – Air Dolomites
    – ITA
    – Discover
    – Lufthansa City

Admittedly I’m not sure what 100k miles will get you after they switch to dynamic rewards on the 3rd June but should be worth a punt. Currently In Oslo about to fly to Kenya and I’ll hit 4 of them on this trip (if existing bookings count)

Sounds like a challenge for @Barry.

I have a Hilton stay booked tomorrow so this morning in the app I now have the option to select my room. It’s the first time I’ve stayed in a Hilton since this feature has been available so I was wondering are there any websites where people rate individual room numbers in Hiltons, similar to the “A view from my seat” website for concert tickets etc please?

I’m Hilton Gold via Amex Plat but I don’t think we’ll get an upgrade as we’ve booked the highest category before suite level because we are three friends and wanted to ensure a big enough room! So I’m working on the basis that the room I select will be the one we stay in. The in-app room map of the property seems pretty basic – hard to tell if there’s much difference between rooms, though it’s a late nineteenth century building so I doubt all the rooms in the category are the same size or configuration.

Departure from Faro airport a bit smoother this morning compared to @davestat yesterday.
Check in deserted and took 2 mins, likewise fastrack security. Passport hall full and queues down stairs to enter, but most booths open and took 25mins to get through.
Currently sat in lounge enjoying my last Portuguese tart of the trip.

@Expat – Have you not contacted the hotel in advance and politely enquired whether they will be able to offer you an upgrade as a gold member?!

IME the room you choose is the room you get, and I suspect they see it as a way to avoid giving upgrades as they’re not going to override the guest’s choice. That said, I generally find Hilton CS at most properties top-notch, especially in the UK, which is why it’s worth asking.

*Also, if you’re checking in on the app to avail yourself of the digital key, I find that 9 times out of 10 you still have to go to reception to show ID or swipe your credit card or whatever, so it’s not really an advantage!

I’ve never seen any site like that.

It’s a bit of a mare trying to work out which room is best, you need to compare the orientation of the building against the satellite view on google maps to make sure you’re not on the side where there’s a main road/highway (especially in the US) and then I just usually go for end of corridor, highest floor possible.

Inevitable when the significant part of clientele is US Hilton credit card holders redeeming their signup bonuses at Maldives. Meltdown in the flyertalk threads. A change of scenery from discussions on which pot noodles to carry to save on F&B costs.

I have a BA e-voucher I want to use on a booking, am I correct in that the process to use this is to book as normal then to phone BA to refund the e-voucher amount (i.e. there is no box on the online booking process to include the e-voucher?) Thanks in advance.

You can still use the app to do this without calling, but not the new website

Is it just me or is the ‘new’ BA website awful, I mean it looks good but I can’t find anything. Two examples, how do I find my Avios statement and why does my wife not show in the list of household members even though the balance proves she is there?

@strickers first part is ‘easy’. Click Membership just below the top of your account home page, scroll down for a while, then View your statements under Your membership and offers. Obvious really! Someone clearly decided that the previous single click at the top of the page was too convenient.

I hadn’t noticed the HHA feature until you mentioned it. Having looked, I’m missing two of mine!

Thanks very much, I definitely remember being able to use an e-voucher online when booking a few years back so was baffled when the option didnt show up this time! Will book via the app …

@AndrewT Found it, thanks. If you go to Avios.com, login and follow the link to the household account there you should be able to see everyone on the old website, it worked for me.

The Hilton digital key is way better than Accor’s attempt so far. Rather than it being integrated into the app, you have to download a separate app, then get a card with a code at reception so you can then get the digital key. When I stayed and used it they hadnt quite got it sorted (they only switched from key cards to digital keys a week or two earlier) so the main entrance wasnt linked to the digital key and I had to ring the bell at night for entry (to solve it for the second night they reluctantly gave me a proper key card).

@Expat As is alluded to in an earlier response – by selecting a specific room you are likely forfeiting any chance of upgrade. So unless you really want a specific room… I always leave it.

@NorthernLass sorry I missed your earlier reply! I did contact the hotel via email last week to request an early check in (we have spa treatments booked tomorrow afternoon and would like to use the pool tomorrow beforehand), a late checkout and that the sofa bed in our room be made up. They replied confirming that they’d put a request on the booking re the sofa bed and that early check ins would be subject to availability on the day but had made a request on the booking and that we are welcome to use the pool if our room isn’t ready when we arrive. I gave my booking number and HH membership number on the email but didn’t specifically allude to Gold status as thought it might come across as pushy! That said, I’m going to give them a ring now and politely enquire about potential upgrades given they may be able to give a yes or no as we check in tomorrow. In the app I can see “Paid Upgrades” available but we won’t be paying an extra £1,151 for the night!

@Travel Strong – thanks, I can see in the app that the hotel have now auto allocated us a room with the option to change it. I’ll see how my phone call goes before I take any action, they’ve currently allocated us first floor but there are also third floor rooms available, which I would prefer for the sea view.

Oh yes, in itself the digital key is great, but it’s supposed to do away with the requirement to check in at the desk, and most of the time it doesn’t. I think twice ever have I been able to go straight to the room. It seems to work at the DT MAN, but then if you want your water and cookies, you still need to go to the desk, lol.

Success – just rang the hotel and they’ve already upgraded us to a suite (highest category!) Thanks for the prompt @NorthernLass!
