Well I’m usually good at this but it’s been a bit of a gruelling work week (gruelling that work has even been a thing, but that’s another story!). What’s the best value option here – I’m thinking the last 2 but I’m struggling with the numbers?!

    10000 Avios + £ 28.00
    8800 Avios + £ 43.00
    6400 Avios + £ 53.00
    4650 Avios + £ 63.00
    2800 Avios + £ 73.00
    1050 Avios + £ 88.00

Cash price is £179 for comparable benefits. TIA.

I know it’s a bit like telling my granny how to sook eggs but for the cash element, just lose the decimal point. I.e £88 becomes 8800 Avios.
For me though as my acquisition cost is 0.65 I would X the Avios by that and add the 88 to that as a compatible against the cash price.

My sister in law is American – she contacted their Member of Congress and sorted it that way for us. The route of going through the UK Embassy is closed.

And is sis-in-law going on the visit with you, or was she able to apply just on your behalf?
(Thinking of doing a similar route at some point) – thanks!

Hi, @Michael – I recall that when Trump was in the White House first time round, he banned UK nationals on security grounds!

Other than the US congress route, I think the Spanish embassy may be more accommodating if that would also be an option, though I don’t know if this would include non-Spanish companions as I never looked any further into it.

Sign up bonus and Estore etc. i.e. recently got 58K for business gold. Then boost those so averages out at 0.65

No she is not coming with us. It was done on our behalf. I had to send in our passports and I’ve had various emails from the white house but it’s all confirmed for next week 🙂

@davefl – The majority of my flights included hold luggage, so it’s a no brainer to indulge,
My wife is actually staying home on the next trip, so it’s a double positive!

TBH it looks like I’m going to have to take a backpack this time as opposed to lugging a case around Asia for 4 months!

Just on the lookout for one preferably with wheels, that will last the distance, as you move around a lot, and go off the beaten track on your trips, any recommendations?

    @Gordon
I”m not sure you’ll see this as I’m a day late reading the forums, but have look at the Osprey Sojourn 80L. Has both wheels and a back pack harness which is removable. if you search around and aren’t fussy on colour can usually find one in a sale somewhere.
