So BA order new Boeing jets timing it well with the trade deal. Am sure they have got pretty good discounts.
But VS, who have seats worse than BA, appear to have wasted this opportunity!

With GE engines, so Rolls Royce getting their come uppance after the ongoing problems with the existing 787’s, although RR do get the A330’s. The engine choice was always likely after they went with GE for the last six 787’s ordered.

Yes. RR share price only up 83% last year

I find this a strange and somewhat ill-informed comment, given that Virgin haven’t bought any 787 since 2014, and have favoured the vastly superior A350 and A330

    Wasted what opportunity?

These orders have been in the pipeline for months if not years.

It’s not like there’s a special trade deal signing opening day discount on offer.

IAG (who order planes not its subsidiaries) didn’t just decide on these orders (they also placed an order with Airbus) yesterday morning.

On the MRCC as well but useless to a lot of people as it’s only for bookings departing the UK.

Virgin’s published plans also don’t seem to involve the purchase of any net new aircraft. They may just have turned a profit (although in reality not quite) after years of losses but VS has neither the financial resources nor any obvious place to utilise a bigger fleet than they have today. Routes are cancelled faster than they can launch them. It’s in something of a strategic impasse.

Even if Virgin did put an order in for more Airbus, their backlog is over 8000 aircraft, production is between 700-800 a year. Boeing have a lower number but still 10 years of backlog.

The way Virgin run the company they barely plan for next year never mind 10 years.

I upgraded from the AMEX Gold to Plat using the offer 2 days ago. In terms of the dining benefit (UK/World) and Harvey Nichols – do I need to enrol into these through the offers page? When I go to the the individual AMEX pages they have an enrol button, but that leads to “you currently have no offers available message”. I still have the Gold benefits in there (well the Deliveroo one) as well.

My wife had this issue last autumn.

In time (a few weeks) HN and dining credits will become available for registration. If you want them NOW you need to contact Amex via chat and they will be added immediately.

In time (a few weeks) Deliveroo will disappear. Until then, it will keep paying out 🙂

I’ve a BA flight from T3 tomorrow evening. BAC silver. Have had issues with previous flights all posting to BAC rather than Iberia when I’ve changed ffp at lounge. Will I be able to enter Cathay and Qantas lounges by showing paper boarding pass with other ffp no and showing BA silver card on the app? Or will I need to have BAC number on boarding pass to enter? Haven’t yet entered BAC number on booking but BA telling me I will get 174 Avios and 30TP. I would have got 25TP with BAEC! Any suggestions, experiences or help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

@LD27, should be fine as you are BA Silver and flying on a OW service. They are very clued up at those lounges. e.g. I’ve been through several times on the basis of status with my OH as guest and not been asked any questions.

@NorthernLass – thank you for that. Had issues at LGW and T5B so hopefully this time points will post to Iberia and not BA. Fingers crossed.

Can someone remind me please – if I have a flight booked on Avios and I pay for seat choices, what happens if I change the flight? Does the “seat money” go towards the cost of picking seats on the new flight or do I lose it? Thank you!

My parents are visiting Greece (7 day cruise) then the UK, travelling from New Zealand. They’re after advice on options for mobile phone coverage as their Samsung Galaxy A12 doesn’t support eSIM (apparently).

Any thoughts on their best option?

If you Google “Samsung Galaxy A12 doesn’t support eSIM”, the AI summary gives a good summary and offers eSIM.me as a workaround, failing that, its physical SIM cards or roaming charges.

Anyone going through FW at LHR, today the liquids limit has been raised back to 2l (presume per item). Not yet applicable to security elsewhere.

    Hi All.

I tried searching for an answer but got conflicting results. I signed up for the 20k Nectar points 2 months ago and am nearing the spend target. I can’t see any specific offer showing when I log in to Amex or on my statement. Are they visible somewhere or are we left to guess that its correctly got our offers applied?

I haven’t held an AMEX account for 5+ years so i should be ok.

    Thanks.

There are some companies like EsimME or 5ber that might be useful otherwise stick to using free wifi wherever possible then maybe consider upgrading parents phones to support esim

Slightly less generous than it was, but still great – thanks for pointing out

Looks like if YOU make a change you lose it.
