I have a booking in CE for LGW > AYT next Saturday. I’ve gone on to the BA app to try and select seats today, 7 days prior to departure, and whilst it is offering me the ability to select seats for free, there are no available seats in the 8 rows of CE shown. All 30 seats are unavailable and none of them are allocated to my party my of 4 pax. Same result going via the website. Any ideas?

Just to add that Expert Flyer shows rows 1-7 as occupied and 8-11 as blocked.

There are four blocked CE seats in Row 8, currently the last CE row so the curtain may move. The rest are allocated. The flight is full in both classes. There’s not really anything you can do except keep an eye on it.
@Grant The last row of CE and the first three rows of ET are routinely blocked until T-72 to allow the curtain to move. All other CE seats have already been selected.
Keep checking, either the CE cabin will be extended, or around T-72 the back row will become available.
Thanks both. BA changed the date of our flight months ago, bringing it forward by a day. I think they changed the schedule and consolidated two flights in to one so guessed it would probably be a full flight.
My parents are on their way to visit the UK (via a Mediterranean cruise), and were offered an upgrade to J (from PE) on SQ. originally booked SIN-FRA-ATH, apparently the flight was overbooked so they were offered SIN-LHR-ATH with an upgrade for their troubles. Of course they jumped at it.
I’ve never had a decent understanding of how airlines choose who to upgrade – first time fliers? Frequent fliers? The first to turn up at the airport? My parents haven’t travelled SQ in nearly a decade, so not sure why they were chosen.
Given that the alternative offered has a significantly longer duration, that would have ruled out any families with school going kids. Same reason will apply for corporate travellers. If they were overbooked by exactly two tickets, a couple who look like retired would make sense to be the best choice for a rerouting. The upgrade is to avoid complicated compensation arguments and SQ is pretty good in assuming responsibility when it’s clearly their fault.
Also as they fly 4 wide body aircraft to London everyday, finding 2 J seats wouldn’t have been that hard. Am more curious what metal the LHR-ATH leg is?

I imagine it’s A3603, so an A20N/A21N.
But who drinks beer in an immigration queue and then drops the empty can just before reaching the desk?
I’m currently picturing Kermit and Freddo having turned to booze to make the queuing less painful.
