Good morning all. Happy bank holiday weekend. Was just reading a comment on Tripadvisor, the person leaves their bag at a Nha Trang public beach, goes in for a dip and when they return their bag was gone. Proceeded to give entire city a negative review until security improves. I shake my head in disbelief.
That sounds like an incredibly naive person!
Good morning and happy bank holiday weekend from a junior suite at the ICPL, booked as a King Cosy on Emyr’s 3 for 2 deal. Lounge access being included makes this a stellar deal, especially if one’s IHG diamond has ceased to sparkle! I really like how the staff are so attentive and at the same time so friendly; there’s no stuffy formality yet the service is impeccable.
After drinks and sufficient nibbles for an evening meal from the very nice lounge spread, we had a wander down to the palace and that general area. It turns out that a summer evening while it’s still light is a really good time for a bit of sightseeing in London as there only a handful of other people out and about, plus a few staff and some police preparing for the VE Day 80 events!
@NorthernLass – Not bad down south eh?
If you fancy some Lebanese cuisine, a very good friend of mine “Nadier” owns several restaurants in the west end, there is one over the back from the palace, you may have passed it? on Curzon street, I visit regularly, fantastic food, just mention me Gordon “Big Boss” for a discount.
There are a lot of prominent wealthy people being dropped off at the restaurants in limos, he has a good number of wealthy clientele, as he has a good reputation.

We have booked a junior suite using the ambassador weekend voucher, for the end of this month.
We like the ICPL and have requested Lounge access to be added.
Was lounge access added by Emyr?
Perhaps I should contact Emyr but not sure if he can book rooms with the AMB certificate……Might check that out, thanks! Weather has been very pleasant so far, apart from a short shower yesterday evening. Today we’re ticking Westminster Abbey off the London List ⛪️.
What is the best status match if being VS gold to match to a Star Alliance airline for Star Gold. Thanks
@Yuff, yes you only get the lounge included when you book directly through Emyr, otherwise it’s £185 per day (poss a bit less for Amb). The hotel itself seems to chop and change re selling rooms with access included, but I have noticed that it’s currently being offered so I don’t know if you want to look at re-booking your Amb nights in case that’s better value for you?
I have 2k points in the Hyatt scheme that are soon to expire. Can’t transfer them to anyone as I haven’t had account activity on my account in the last 12 months. Looks like they would be worth 20$ credit on dining, but no plans to eat at a Hyatt. Not enough to transfer to Avios (5k minimum) and disappointingly no option to donate to charity. Any ideas?

It’s £155 a night for lounge access, I’ll message Emyr and see what he says.

Thank you for the info 😁Emyr can’t book Ambassador certificates.
What did the nightly rate workout out and did you get an F&B credit bit that you need it with the lounge as the service and food and drink are plentiful.
With the certificate and lounge access it’s works out about £500 a night for the junior suite, although we should also get an upgrade. This is aviation related, anyone on this route today, as the Red arrows have designated fly past zones on their way up to Buckingham Palace for a fly past for VE Day.
I will be at Colchester stadium to see them fly by, it’s always a great spectacle.
Good morning.
I had my first experience with Starlink on a Qatar flight from London earlier in the week and;
The good:
Excellent speed and no interruptions to DOH at any point. As Rob pointed out in his recent article you can certainly get work done with no issues at all
The bad:
At least three people, one next to me, another behind me and a third across the isle playing loud videos on their phones without headphones and this was a red eye flight.
Gave up trying to sleep and put my noise cancelling headphones but still can hear them. The announcement to keep the volume low is ignored, quite passionately.

Buy minimum amount of points and that will extend their validity. You can then also transfer them to someone else as that counts as activity.
You could also pop into nearby Hyatt property for a coffee and ask them to put your membership number. This will also count as an activity.
GLOBAL AIRLINES NEWS
Hot Off The Press – Saturday 3rd May @ 12:50
9H-GLOBL has just landed at Gatwick, having flown from Berlin Brandenberg over the North Sea, Newcastle, Manchester Birmingham, Brighton and finally into LGW. It’s now parked over near the Fire Station. I just happened to see it on planefinder.
Are they launching their regular service from Gatwick ahead of schedule?!?! 🙂Good morning.

I think you might as well join in, some people just don’t give a toss.

Need to go one step further. Take a bluetooth speaker with you and play it at high volume towards these people. If there’s some device that can amplify the sound towards a particular direction, even better.
@Yuff, no you can only use the Amb free night on direct bookings, I meant try looking to see if you could use the certificate on a room/suite with lounge access. Emyr’s rate was better value for us this weekend so we’re using our free night in Madrid this summer instead. Total for 3 nights here is just under £900, which is the price of one night in the junior suite with lounge access this weekend!
Btw, you can get a price from the Virtuoso website and nominate Emyr’s as your travel agent.
@ABA that flight sounds hellish, what is going on with these people?! Are they not disturbed themselves by the other people listen to stuff around them? The bad:

Play what though? I was mulling downloading some podcasts from well outside the Overton window to play in such situations.

They’re the same type as my next door neighbour who spends the whole summer in his inflatable hot tub with the generator/pump roaring away all day and night and a 50in TV in the garden turned up so he can hear it over the noise of the pump.

What did the cabin crew say when you spoke to them?

@Gordon, we’re just debating whether to try & get back to the ICPL lounge on the 7th floor to watch it from here!
@ABA, I share your pain now as there’s a group of men sitting near us watching a football match at full volume on a laptop 😩
