This is today’s chat thread.
If you have specific questions about Avios, hotels or credit cards, please ask them in the appropriate forum and not here. This thread is a good place to post interesting deals you have spotted or your general thoughts on travel and all things miles and points. Thank you for contributing.

Unfortunately I’ve been the victim of Avios fraud.
I received a deluge of spam emails starting about 13:00 yesterday and in amongst that, I saw an email from ‘noreply-cma’ which confirmed ‘me’ successfully moving 250,000 avios from my BA account to my Iberia Plus account (which I do not have). I immediately changed my password and called BA who were helpful in locking the account and passing it onto the audit team to investigate.
I recall reading another thread some time ago and essentially the same MO. I’d like to think I’m fairly cyber safe (different passwords, TFA etc.) so was quite shocked when I realised what was happening.

Outrageous that airlines don’t have 2FA in place before any transfer or redemption. There’s been speculation on here that these incidents are inside jobs. I don’t know enough about IT to say, but presumably even a bad actor in an IT security role would not have access to a full password.
TCB always puzzles me.
Sometimes it’s really slow but other times lightening fast
On Friday I bought a Morrisons Gift card and the cash back became payable the same day.
Last Tuesday I checked out of an IHG hotel, yesterday the cashbask became ‘confirmed’ and this morning ‘payable’
Yet others take months to become confirmed and then more months to be payable.
Still it’s free money so I won’t complain too much!

It does seem that consistency of product is a key selling point and one which the big chains will have to address, perhaps when their desperate land grabs slow down. The failure to check or enforce brand standards and ensure consistency within each brand is an ever growing problem.

Paywall, I’m not clever enough IT wise, to get around it!

People really shouldn’t post a bald link.
A few sentences of summary should be provided!

Yes, it is an interesting insight, I sometimes stay at PI at LHR & LGW, but I have seen their prices steadily rise, especially the one on Bath road Heathrow, so much so the Moxy just down the road is closely matched in price on occasions.
Saying that, I have booked the PI, a couple of minutes walk from LGW North terminal for £88, before a flight in a few months,
I consider that a competitive price.Re their footprint in Germany, I’ve stayed at PI in Berlin and Nuremberg, both stays were satisfying and cost effective, also the staff, some of them from the UK, were all helpful and pleasant, looks like PI are on the right track.
At that price I’d be looking at the Hampton by Hilton (not the actual Hilton) in LGW.
The comments in the e-gates article from a few weeks ago mentioned that you can do a Subject Access Request to get details on the entries and exits the Home Office holds for you.
I’ve received back my Subject Access Request response today from the Home Office detailing my entries and exits to/from the UK for the last five years. Needless to say, there are many gaps, missing out whole trips in some cases. The last entry, which is in 2024, is also an Outbound without a corresponding Inbound, so now I’m a little worried about the general state of the government’s records on these things.
@gerjomarty isn’t it the civil service (or possibly even an external contractor) that will be running the system and keeping records?
At that price I’d be looking at the Hampton by Hilton (not the actual Hilton) in LGW.
I did, and that was £147 direct for same date, at the Honors rate!
