Hi all,
I have a short (1 night) trip coming up next month, and just went to purchase travel insurance. Through the BA Shopping Portal, I went via confused.com who promise a boosted rate of 750 avios for taking out a new single-trip policy at the moment.
However my policy cost just over £2, given it is covering just two days and for a traveller with no medical conditions. If the avios track and are awarded, I will essentially have bought avios at a rate of around 0.29p per avios and got my travel insurance free.
Does anyone have any experience with such cheap insurance policies and whether the avios are likely to be awarded? If they are, this seems like a very cheap way to obtain avios….
I have purchased 10 unneeded 1 day policies for around £2.50 each. I will let you know if it works!
Sounds like the good old days 😂
As an update, my one policy purchase has tracked and I have 750 avios pending. Remains to be seen if they will pay out but confused.com have a decent score on TopCashBack so I’m hopeful.
I may purchase a few more policies myself!
But your not dealing with TCB. Your dealing with the BA shopping portal and there are lots of reports of points not getting posted at all and getting posted and then rescinded!
I hadn’t thought of TCB. Gocompare offers £6 cashback for single trips. I can get a short single trip for just over £1. Worth a gamble if they all track….!

Yep, be prepared for them to be clawed back even after a year or two.
Not tried, but in the past have bought a £1 UK travel insurance to get the 241 “meerkat movies” offer. Saves a lot more than a few Avios 😉

*You’re spot on there. Informative, helpful post as always that answers the OP’s original question rather than just throwing out a few random statements with a condescending comment tagged on the end!
