When does BA count children as a guest in the lounge?
When my partner and I travel with our infant daughter, we have never been challenged about her access, given a Silver/Gold cardholder can only bring ‘one’ guest.
What have folks experienced?
BA doesn’t count under 2s as guests.
If older it depends on the door staff and how busy the lounge is whether they get admittance or not.
We only had a couple of entrances allowed after age 2 – possibly both in the US?
Interesting — we have 100% success in our two flights so far since turning two.
I would have thought 16 years old would be sensible; at that age, the child is old enough to wander around the terminal on their own — it would presumably cost BA far more for me to book the child separately and request they travel as an unaccompanied minor.
BA doee not offer an UM service – it ended in 2016.
2/2 here, with a three year old. Both at LHR. Probably helps that we’ve been traveling off peak, targeted the quieter lounge using the webpage that tells you how busy they are, and asked very nicely.
Never asked in the UK as we tend to all be travelling in J (or J/F), happily. But on a trip from DCA to Key West last year on AA I enquired as OW Silver/Sapphire and they said they normally let under-18s in with eligible parents, especially if it’s quiet. I don’t know if that’s because AA status doesn’t get you into lounges as much in the US so they are generally less busy?
