Hi all,
Will be travelling from Dublin to Orlando direct in July. As an IAG / Oneworld airline and part of the alliance, I should be able to select say, BAEC as the loyalty programme and add my details in like that on the booking – right?
Anyone had any issues with Avios posting from AerLingus? Or should I just get it on my AerClub account then transfer over?
What would work better or be most sensible? I also assume that no Tier Points or anything like that will be given, just Avios?
PS. The flights were booked by American Holidays, but I am sure we’ll get a booking ID so that I could probably add it to the booking. Does that affect Avios?
Thanks
You need to find out the booking class on the ticket and use wheretocredit dot com to find out where is best. Some classes will give no Avios at all when posted to BA.
No TPs yet, they’ve been “coming soon” since last autumn

Well, I think it’s the “Smart” Economy probably, so not the most basic but not the changeable one. Where would one find out booking class? I think we’ll be getting those details shortly prior to departure as usual with travel agencies.
I had a similar type of arrangement when I visited Iceland and New York – I was able to credit Icelandair points – although I never used them!
TBH I don’t care about tier credits and all that, but according to this it’s anywhere from 16K Avios to 25K for Economy fares, which I would very much care for! https://www.aerlingus.com/media/pdfs/EI_routes_avios_amounts.pdf
EI isn’t a member of One World. Sharing the same owner as BA also butters no parsnips for things like seat selection or lounge access on this routing.
According to this (and checking the TP calculator on the BA website) you can earn avios and TPs

That’s the spend not earn chart!

Correct – I was coming back to correct that. My mind is fried it seems tonight!
I booked direct and they’re on my ticket. You may need to contact your travel agent if you can’t see them on yours.
For MAN-DUB-IAD ORD-DUB-MAN on one ticket the 4 flights are in 4 different booking classes. some earn 100% miles flown, some 25%, some none. Some are better credited to United for me, because I get 100% miles on United but zero or 25% on Aer Lingus
The whole thing is a complex mess, Just because it’s smart enconomy doesn’t help you. I’m in Business class both ways on the transatlantic leg but one is in U, the other is in P.
U will get me nothing on BA, 3 miles per euro on Aer Lingus and 5 miles per USD on United.
P class on the return apparently gets me 0 miles on Aer Lingus and 3664 credited to United.

According to the BA checker it’s 1k per person per way in the non-flexible Eco cabin so won’t be too much, thought it’d be a bit better. It does seem a bit of a mess as you say from what I seen too from research. If Disney World wasn’t so expensive I’d upgrade myself but it is what it is for now..!

Good to know – I must’ve imagined seeing the blue logo on their planes then!
Thanks for that. Using BA Avios calculator (https://www.britishairways.com/travel/flight-calculator/public/en_gb) shows numbers far less than the AerLingus PDF. That implied 16K, this shows 1K in lowest classes. Any reason why the huge difference, did I misread it?

Yep – I was just about to correct myself lol! I was thinking that looks too good to be true.
