Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Club Europe seats to Faro

  • 38 posts

Hi, I’ve redeemed my first avios flights ever from Heathrow to Faro in Club Europe with my wife and baby.
Any tips on when I can select seats and if there are better ones to try and get with a 1year old?
Also Any others tips or tricks would be super helpful. (Lounges etc) First time flying with a baby!

    Thanks for any help

Best to have a look at Manage My Booking- that will tell you if you can choose for free. Depends if you have any Exec Club status.
    I think it’s something like
Gold – free choice from point of Booking.
Silver – same, apart from exit row seats which only become free 24 hrs before departure.
Bronze – free 7 days before departure
Blue- free 24 hrs before departure.

All short haul Club Euro is only 2 out of the 3 seats in use, so any row should give you some extra space, although depending on the plane type there may be a tray table fitted on the middle seat. You may be able to get it removed by cabin crew if you ask nicely and they are happy to assist.

Unless you have status, you can’t select seats until online checkin (unless you pay).

I think Faro is currently from T5, so three lounges but all operated by BA. The least worst of the BA lounges is at T5B, but check where your flight is leaving from.

Club Europe seating is the same as economy, but with the middle seat empty. The middle seat may be blocked with a table. I suggest phoning BA customer services for advice on seating, to make sure the table is removed from the middle seat if necessary.

There was a worrying story recently about a flight being delayed because the inexperienced cabin crew didn’t know how to remove and stow the tables from the middle seats.

    Sorry to sound so negative.

If you have a baby in your booking, you can select seat anytime. There’s no restriction.

One thing to note is that you wont have access to every seat. Exit seats are not allowed of course and not every seat has the correct oxygen supply you would require for the child in the event of depressurisation, BA.com should guide you to a selection that suits your needs. Have a great trip.

In CE you’ll have access to every row (except exits) as there are at least 3 masks above each row and only 2 seats. Free selection once yoube booked. I’d go as far forward as possible to get the best choice of food but not the front row as you’ll want a baby bag under the seat for easy access

Take plenty of little toys and bits that you can swap around to keep the baby entertained as well as lots of snacks !

Did it this year with my 2 x under ones and actually it went very well. A couple behind made a comment about babies in business class but then came to say how well we had done vs the adults up the front who’d made friends and then drunk lots of wine and got very loud and annoying! 😂

Not True, British Airways Airbuses don’t have oxygen suitable for babies in every row in CE.

I regularly travel to Faro from both Heathrow and Gatwick. Gatwick flights are usually operated by Iberia Express. CE on Iberia not as good as BA in my view. I choose Heathrow if I can. Also, lounge at Faro airport is pretty poor. It was once voted the worst lounge in Europe by some newspaper, cannot remember which one. It’s not the experience you expect flying Club but better than nothing. In January when I last visited they did not have wine, just vodka, rum, gin and beer. Very strange that a business lounge had no wine in Portugal..

Possibly only certain airbus then. I’ve flown 4 times in CE and have 4 further bookings and I could/can access all the seats in CE

In ET you can only sit in certain rows as you need 4 masks available
