I have used it. It is ok if everything is absolutely simple, straightforward and with no complications. Otherwise get a solicitor.

Haven’t used Coop, but if it’s a simple will, you can try using this service:

Don’t have to pay anything upfront. Instead you can leave a gift to CR in your will.

We have done wills through them using this offer. Our situation is very straightforward – no children, not a complicated estate – and they seem to have done what we needed and wanted without too much fuss. The (simple, mirror) wills are fairly cheap. If you want anything more complicated eg trusts then fees increase rapidly – in that case I’d agree that finding a local solicitor would likely be better.

Just a word of advice if you do want to leave anything to charity please make it a discrete amount. Never leave a percentage of your estate as that can cause complications as my neighbour discovered when he was trying to sell his late sister’s house; the charity (not sure which) would not approve the sale price on the basis that they could potentially get more if the house price was greater. He had several offers rejected by the charity.

Charities are often extremely aggressive in pursuing their interests in these cases. A situation best avoided in my opinion.
