Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Companion Rewards Vouchers and Virgin Holidays

  • 1 post

    Hi all,

THis is my first time getting one of these reward vouchers. I see these can only be done by calling. Is there any way to utilise the virginholidays system as I was looking to book a flight and hotel together. Or would I have to ring, book the flights then find somewhere to book the hotel elsewhere (like booking.com).

    Thanks,

    Chris

Yes, they can only – currently – be used by calling. That’s generally a good thing, because the agents will usually work to get you a better deal than you might have come up with yourself. I’ve saved hundreds this way in the past.

You can use your voucher by calling Virgin Holidays, and asking them to help you with the process. They will likely charge a booking fee, per their terms, but it is minimal. The process used to involve getting a quote reference from Holidays, on the phone, calling VS and giving them the reference, and then booking the flights through them, then calling Holidays back to do the hotel.

It sounds arduous, but – if you’ve done your homework upfront – it’s not too bad. Think less BA call centre, more ‘answered within a few rings, sorted quickly, done’.

Remember, too, that – as long as you give Virgin Holidays your Flying Club number before you place any money down – then you’ll earn an additional 20 TPs per £500 spent.
