Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Companion voucher date change

  • 34 posts

Sorry if this comes up regularly! We have used a companion voucher for a trip to Johannesburg, but would ideally like to change the date of the outbound flight. I’ve checked and there is availability on the date we’d prefer.

I’ve seen a HeadforPoints article from earlier this year which says I specifically have to call to make the change (because the booking involves a companion voucher), but Manage My Booking seems to suggest that I can, in fact, do it online – obviously this is less faff. Is this wrong? Would I lose the 2-for-1 element?

AFAIK you can only cancel this kind of booking, online, not change it – have you tried clicking through to the next page?

A phone call should sort this out fairly easily, and you should probably do it sooner rather than later in case your seats disappear! It’ll cost you £35 pp to make the change.

Thanks, NorthernLass. I’ve clicked through in Manage My Booking and it’s definitely offering me the option of a date change, but I’m going to call anyway. It’s not worth the risk of losing the companion voucher Avios discount and I was just being lazy!

Should be able to make the change online – I’ve made a few changes to my bookings but I don’t have the issue of the payment processor trying to charge me for the changes which can mangle things up.

You can definitely do this change online – i did it myself a couple of days ago (also to JNB ironically). You can’t do it online if your date change moves from peak to non-peak or vice versa – you have to call in that case.

I’ve never been able to make a change online (as opposed to cancellation), however it may be to do with having a domestic connection.

Update: I changed the booking online (non-peak date to non-peak date). Very straightforward indeed.

I assume you were charged a change fee of £35/ person?
