Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Compensation for cockroach in cutlery in J SIN-LHR?

  • 142 posts

Morning all! Having already used 2 pieces of cutlery from my kit, I unwrapped the knapkin to find a dead cockroach in it.

After a 2 months wait I received an email yesterday from B A with an e-Voucher for £400 which seems fair to me.

    A couple of Qs..

Can I use this eVoucher towards taxes/charges on a 2-4-1 redemption? (I rarely pay for a cash ticket)

Asking to ‘trade it in’ for avios instead and for how many?

    Many thanks to you all!

If you wanted avios you should probably have asked initially! £400 is a good result, you should be able to apply the voucher at the payment stage on any booking, though it should be clear in the Ts & Cs.

You could have just continued on your prior post but thanks for letting us know the market value for a cockroach!

Yes, good effort for price discovery. They say all publicity is good publicity, but I’m not sure if the owners of Lucarelli would agree with their restaurant getting a mention on Radio 4 this morning.

I didn’t hear the name of the restaurant mentioned, just one in the Mailbox. I hadn’t had my first coffee of the morning though.

Wow, I’d happily unwrap as many dead (or living for that matter) roaches as they want for £400 a time! Great result.

For that amount I’ll look into bringing a cockroach next time.

ISTR you are not the first person that reported a cockroach on here, when they opened their cutlery on a route involving SIN on BA

It’s the same person, they just couldn’t be bothered to reply to their own thread

I couldn’t find my original thread despite searching under drdan or cockroach.

With Robs advice, I replied to BA and exchanged for 50k avios that have already posted 🙂

A 400£ eVoucher won’t be useful as I rarely pay a cash fare and certainly not in the next 12 month validity and can’t use it against a 2-4-1 F redemption for the taxes/charges.

    A good result

A doubly good result then, well done
