Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Compensation or duty of care ?

Hi , new here and looking for info about my BA return flight which was cancelled yesterday, it was cancelled 15 days before flight so I understand no EU261 compensation, and I have rebooked to return the following day which is all ok .
Luckily the villa I’m renting have allowed me to stay on an extra night and I’ve been able to amend my car hire return by an extra day and also amend my car parking at Gatwick for later pickup .
So I’m happy with having an extra days holiday and everything has been ok to rearrange and it’s cost me about £170 extra in total so far .
As far as I understand I’m due no help towards the extra expense as I was notified of cancellation more than 14 days ahead , is this correct ?
I’m not wanting to make anything out of it , but is there any recompense for having to spend extra due to a change of my flight date ?

You will be able to claim for the extra night at the accoomdation so make sure you have a specific invoice / recept for it as well as any meals.

You won’t be able to claim any extra car hire / parking costs from BA. That’s one for you to either bear yourself or try to claim from travel insurance.

Duty of Cate is not connected to the cancellation notification.

Thanks Chris , that’s really helpful , I can get the villa owner to do an invoice/ receipt, not worried about car hire and parking .
Obviously we are self catering but eat at local restaurants, so if I get a receipt for a meal I can claim that too as long as it reasonable cost and excludes alcohol ?
To be honest I didn’t think I had any recompense due as over 14 days notice, but it feels fair that I can claim for these extra costs to me as they were out of my control due the change by BA at 15 days notice.
    Thanks again for your help

Thanks Pete , I did note the last paragraph about the duty of care , but had the understanding that no compensation was due if given 14 days notice of flight cancellation , at least I’m now aware and will submit receipts for the accommodation and food when I get back from holiday
    Thanks all

I had a similar situation in Iceland last month and my claim has been approved today (around a month) for the extra night and the dinner I had at the hotel. My car had been booked with BA so they moved it by one day automatically, so I would just go on their website and claim all expenses for the extra day.

Also as a tip on the website it kept mentioning about the 14 days but I pressed on and said explicitly I just wanted the reimbursement for the extra night rather than compensation.
