Confirmable suite upgrade rates

Hello,

I have a somewhat niche question about the confirmable suite upgrade reward, and despite my best efforts, I could not find an answer despite searching the forum and the web.

Does anyone know if you can use the confirmable suite upgrade reward with the IHG Luxury and Lifestyle rate (as booked via Bon Vivant, for example)? I read through their T&Cs and could not find an answer, although they imply it should work with a “flexible” rate, which, technically speaking, is the case.

If I recall correctly I have read in the comments in one of the articles that unfortunately it is not possible with this rate as the booking didn’t originate from your account and potential issue with the commissions.

Everything I’ve seen suggests that it needs to be a direct booking, but it’s always worth calling IHG and seeing what they say, they can be gratifying flexible on some of these things. I used my upgrade this year on a 5 night reward booking, which made the stay sensational value!

I called IHG to ask exactly this a few weeks ago and was told it would not be a qualifying booking.
