So I have a booking in April that is LHR->SIN in BA first, a week later SIN->SYD in Qantas First, then returning 10 days later in BA Club. This is obviously under the new regime. The total ticket cost was approx. £8k but I do not understand how to calculate the tier points I would get.
This matters as I am considering moving from BA (where I’m gold) to Qatar, where I would be able to retain Oneworld Emerald after mine expires from BA in 2026,
How do I calculate this – as it is all on a BA ticket is it as simple as £1 = 1 point (after removing the taxes) despite being on a mixture of BA and Qantas?
Thx
Is the QF flight booked with a BA flight number?
I doubt even most of BA know how they’d work out the tier points on this kind of booking!
There’s a calculator here – Choose BAC not BAEC for the new rates. https://travel-dealz.com/tools/miles-calculator
and also here which is more up to date than wheretocredit
Thanks all for your help – but I’ve still been unable to get an answer to this. For example travel-dealz tells me I get 0 tier points on BAC despite being in A on LHR->SIN on BA, A on QF SIN->SYD and D on BA SYD->SIN.
BA call center spent a good 40 minutes trying to work it out and failed.
At this stage I think I just give up, credit the flights to Qatar and start flying Qatar rather than BA which fortunately goes to many places I go. Coupled with the fact I still don’t know how may points I may be able to get off the CC.
Way to go BA – you seem to have driven away most leisure travellers and you can now add this business traveller who typically does long haul in business most months – I thought I was the type of traveller the changes were intended to keep.
In the unlikely event someone from BA reads this and cares then please contact me.

I have just booked BA economy LHR OSL LHR going out on 28th March returning on 29th April. My booking indicates that I will get 65 tier points. I do not understand why the outbound flight will not result in the present system tier points ,! I think this BA change has managed to produce ‘mother of all confusion’
By the way I have a Qatar business class OSL AUH DXB OSL outbound 28th March inbound 28th April and another business class with Qatar AUH ISB and KHI DXB ( both in April).
Would be interesting to see how many a tier points I will get.
Should I credit all these flights to Qatar ? The only concern I have is that if my flights are credited to Qatar , I will lose the BA gold privelages, fast track , extra baggage , longer access ? Or do I get the benefits by waving my card ? ( I do not have any status with Qatar, yet)
Anyone has experience of crediting flights to an airline then using status card from another airline to claim the tier benefits ?

Not that it matters but the return is D on BA SYD->LHR not SIN

Not yet, but will be trying that in the next year. From reports on Flyertalk it’s generally OK for lounge access except when flying with Alaska who don’t permit it. Boarding group and luggage wouldn’t be possible. Fast track security will be hit and miss, possibly more miss depending on where you are.
