Forums Frequent flyer programs Other frequent flyer schemes Conundrum of using two frequent flyer numbers!

  • 14 posts

Booked a flight with Qatar Airlines using my JAL frequent flyer number (Sapphire tier) for free seat selection, lounge access etc. However, it would be nice to claim the avios credited to my BA account (which is only blue). For my partner’s flight, I’ve added their BA FF number which is tied to our family household account. Not sure if this makes a difference?

I’ve read this thread but it is now closed, so posting again: https://www.headforpoints.com/2025/03/14/using-two-frequent-flyer-numbers-in-same-booking/

Should I just forget the avios or is there a way to add both?

    Thanks.

FF shouldn’t matter for lounge access, show your JAL status.

Try changing it in MMB, then if that doesn’t work, during online Checkin, at the airport bag drop if it’s a human, or with the gate agent.

I was recently almost rejected from the T5 LHR lounge whilst flying BA, as they mandated having my status on my boarding pass and didn’t accept my app or FF card showing my status. The guy at the lounge counter managed to finally add my FF to my boarding pass after 20 minutes of faffing around so I wanted to avoid this happening again.

I’ve tried Finnair and Royal Air Maroc for MMB but errored saying couldn’t retrieve booking. There is no option to change FF on Qatar MMB on the app/website for some reason?

I could change at the check in desk but again worried about lounge access. Could I change my FF to BA to earn avios once in the lounge? (not sure how I’d do this, apart from maybe calling the airline)

Finnair hasn’t allowed this for approx a year – it was disabled within days of the first RJ status offer as people piled in to change their numbers.

Other airlines have also since shut that route down.
