Forums Other Destination advice Corfu/Rhodes/Crete – holiday with parents

Hi all – booking a last minute holiday with my parents and we can’t decide between Corfu, Rhodes and Crete. This would be quite a chilled holiday, beaches, nice restaurants and not TOO much walking. If anyone has any recommendations on which one would be best for the family holiday and any recommendations (particularly nice hotels) that would be great! Thank you.

    Look at Elounda on Crete.

Chania on Crete also good for family holidays. Best beaches are a drive away, the ones nearest to town are not so good.

I would also recommend Crete. We had a great week there in early May- it’s a more relaxed island with great food and hotel options. Being a much larger island there are lots of options (and we found it more reasonable than other Greek islands but obviously depends on your budget). We had several chilled beach days, ate at many fantastic tavernas and had drinks/cocktails at some great bars. We opted for an Airbnb about 20km east of Heraklion airport. We drove to Elounda (highly recommended) which was about 45 mins away – really enjoyed it there (although a bit busier).

Yes, Chania much more suitable, particularly if with older people. It is much quieter and more traditional/sophisticated Greek than the resorts of the east of Crete which are much busier and tourist focussed.
