Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Could improvements in WTP include lounge access?

I find this particular premium perk lacking in the World Traveller Plus. Eco+ is way pricier that regular eco with not that many aditional perks asociated to it. Maybe Lounge access Could be granted at least at selected airports (at least were IAG owns the lounges and are not contracted out)
Or even instead of open access for all passengers, at léase those holding Bronze. By itself neither the cabin class nor the status card include access but combining both…

Some airlines give their equivalent of BA bronze lounge vouchers, BA could do that, say 2 vouchers per year (good for 2 people each) at BA lounges.

There is no easy way of allowing it for free given capacity constraints. If business travel volumes don’t recover, and BA starts letting status cards expire, there could be an option to let you pay £50. The risk is that there would be some trading down from Business which would nullify the impact.

That’s still a heck of a lot of extra admissions though.

Would be less if linked say to a BA holiday long haul 7 days or longer booking to give people a taster.

I hope not, they don’t want to devalue offerings of club.

If they is BA, they seem very happy to devalue the offerings of Club.

It does seem bonkers that you can get lounge access for 4500 avios and £17.50 on a CE booking but not on a £2k PE one.

*I hope Mr Doyle isn’t reading this 🤣

SO I guess if you really wanted lounge access, you could find the cheapest
possible CE that coincides with your long-haul PE, invites your OH in on the back
of their PE ticket, then just dump the CE flight ;o)))

I don’t think you can guest people in in business but I suppose if you were going to eat and drink enough you could get 2 CE tickets. I’m not sure it would be worth it for the usual offerings though!

Has anyone tried visiting a lounge to avail themselves of the food and drink then gone home? Some of those Terminal 3 lounges are tempting and the flight will be far cheaper than the bill in a central London restaurant for proper nosh and a few quality drinks.

I don’t know how easy it would be to get out if you “changed your mind” about taking your flight. T3 at LHR might be tempting but no one in their right mind would put themselves through the purgatory of MAN security to get into the Escape lounge 😂

It’s relatively easy to get out, in T3 you need to find someone to open the door to the arrivals stream. In T5 you just take the train to C and stay on. In both cases you end up at immigration, so don’t forget your passport.

Expect BA to take action if you make a habit of this. Yes your meeting in Luxembourg might get cancelled once, but not every week.

Lufty sent a German guy a bill because they did this too often (had to pay something like €200 x 30 “false” visits). Singapore has fined people because it was illegal to pass through immigration on false pretences, also people in China were fined and banned from the airlines for life.

I was half joking although making a serious point that a flight preceded by a visit to a good quality lounge is cheaper than a modest evening out in London. I fail to see how 200 EUR per visit in damages is legally defensible. In the UK Lufty would need to provide reasonable evidence that their losses amounted to 200 EUR per aborted flight which is patently impossible and strikes me as a gratuitous penalty designed to punish such behaviour. Lufty lounges in Germany must be heaven on earth to merit 30 visits without wanting to fly anywhere.
