Hi all
Your expertise required please…
I travelled to the US East Coast in Business in July on AA and credited my Avios and tier points to IB. I am going to the US again in Business in October and December and wondered if it would be best to continue to credit to IB or to instead credit to BAEC?
Thanks for your help 🙂
In Iberia you get 500TP per business class flight to NA, so you already have at least 1k (without counting positioning flights if you did any). With 2250 you get IB Gold (equivalent to BA silver). If I were you I would credit it to IB again. IB status year finish in March for everybody. So if you keep travelling at that pace you may get IB Platinum (that lasts for two years, instead of just one as BA Gold), Although currently BA is offering a reduced threshold for achieving status (450 until 31/12), so those two flights to the US would get you BA Silver anyways (140Tp per sector*4=560).
When is your BAEC TP year end? Do you have status in BAEC? If so does it make sense to post to BAEC to help retain or gain status? If it makes no difference then credit to IB as per @gtellez post above. Personally I don’t see the point in duplicating status within Oneworld. I have a legacy AAdvantage account that dates back to the time when you could not credit AA flights to BA and vice versa but I now credit entirely to BAEC. I have opened a Qatar Privelege account as that makes spending Avios easier but I will always credit to BAEC unless you can’t earn Avios eg Bangkok Airways flights not booked with a BA code but you can earn Avios if you credit to Qatar Privelege.
Thanks for the replies guys
I don’t have status with BAEC and I guess I should have credited the first flight to BA right? If I did I would have achieved Silver status. Has anyone got any experience recrediting from one airline to another – Could I ask for IB to credit the first flight to BAEC?
