I am a metal customer for a few years now and I got this email, is this genuine?
Hi xxx,
I’m getting in touch to let you know that we don’t currently have identity verification in place for your account.
To continue using Curve, please click the link below and follow the quick instructions to securely upload proof of identity (scans/photocopies can’t be accepted) and a selfie (photo self-portrait). Rest assured that the process is completely secure and your uploaded information is fully encrypted.
Keep in mind that if you’re a customer from European Economic Area (EEA) you’ll need to provide us with either an EEA Passport or National Identity Card. Note that we can’t accept Driving Licenses.
Curve is only available to customers with valid EEA or UK residency and we recommend that any documents uploaded reflect your current residency status.
I kindly request that you complete your account verification using the link below within 3 days, and let me know once this has been done by replying to this message.
Sounds like a standard KYC check.
Had this a year or so ago, despite having provided the information previously.
So long as it’s from a valid Curve email, it’s genuine.
I got this in Oct after using my new card for a week on my holiday. Approx 2 out of every 5 transactions failed, hotel payment left as ‘pending’ for 6 months. They blocked the card a few days later and I’ve been unable to use it or spend the curve cash I earned.
Told them to stuff it.

Yes it does sound like KYC and I too THINK I have provided this before in the past.
Email looks legit but wants me to submit docs to applicants.onfido portal, no if i can avoid it thanks!
Im wondering if this is an excuse to shut down the account – plenty of bad reviews on TrustPilot from others… @Rob can advise?
Why would Rob have anything to do with this?!
People already told you this is common. If you don’t want to provide ID, then don’t

People on the reviews have complained that even after they provided id the account doesnt get reinstated so im interested to know has this happened alot?
They’re completely incompetent.
I contacted them through the app to close the account last week, and the form asked for the reason why. I wrote 4 reasons in the box listing all the issues then got a reply a day later asking why I wanted to close the account and could they ‘fix the issues’.
I replied saying read the issues I listed would be a good start… and then they emailed back saying they have closed it and would welcome me back at any time – not a chance of that happening.

No, the free one this time.
I tried upgrading from metal the previous year and it was an utter disaster, got my underlying CC blocked for fraud twice and I was unable to make a single transaction once it had been upgraded so I cancelled and had the fee refunded,
This latest attempt was the 3rd and final time I’ll go anywhere near them.
