Hello, I’m planning to used my (free) curve card which allows “0% fee on spend in over 150+ foreign currencies, up to £1000 per rolling month.” But I am not sure if Thai Baht is included in that. Is there anyway to check? I am not using this during the weekend in which I am aware will incur the charge.
Many thanks.
Rates were fine for me when I used it in Feb.
However, I found most ATMs in Thailand have a cash withdrawal fee which was annoying so you’ll still be hit with that if you intend to withdraw cash.I’d personally bring some cash GBP to convert THB.
@TicknBash thank you. I do not plan to withdraw cash from ATM but plan to use the curve card electronically for hotel booking via the phone/website. Just not sure if there is any fees incurred from Curve in your experience?
No fees incurred for Thailand, Malaysia and Hong Kong IME in the last 12 months.
Used it 2 weeks ago. Absolutely fine, no fees. As mentioned about, take cash to convert to THB
@Vit note that the no FX fees limit reduces to £250 per 30 rolling days on 14 November for the free card.
Thanks everyone. Very useful to know re-fx fees with curve for THB.
@JDB just done a bit reading this morning and it seemed to me some pieces of FAQ was not updated so I was not sure but then come across that limit of £250 which is rather conflicting but glad to have your confirmed here.In Thailand you can get a slightly higher rate with £50 notes than the others. Also you can buy Scottish notes for under face value when you’re about to leave.

@JDB just done a bit reading this morning and it seemed to me some pieces of FAQ was not updated so I was not sure but then come across that limit of £250 which is rather conflicting but glad to have your confirmed here. The thing to look at is the subscription schedule headed “Version 3 – Published 14 September 2023” and due to come into effect on 13 November. There’s a link to it in an email from Curve in the middle of this month.
Get some THB in the UK so that you can buy sim cards at the airport (when I was there, it was cash only). Once you have a local sim card, you can use Grab (like Uber) to call a taxi, the app allows you to link a non-fx fee UK card for the payment.
Also, prepare some England notes (they may not recognize other notes, I got England notes in a local Bank of Scotland branch) and exchange them for THB when you run out of cash at stores such as Superrich (lots of branches in the city center) other than those in the airport, the rate is different.
You can buy e-sim online on the morning of your flight https://www.dtac.co.th/en/new-number/esim Scroll to tourist sim.
