Forums Payment cards Other payment cards Curve go back in time

Can I pay with one mile-earning card using a curve card, and then go back in time and switch the payment to another mile-earning card.
I tried this once and Barclays reversed the Avios when I switched the payment to another card 15 days later.

    I appreciate thoughts here.

Well of course they’d reverse the Avios because you cancelled the payment on that card

What are you trying to actually do? Card issuers only give rewards for transactions actually made. Rewards for refunds are reversed which can be an issue when you get a refund to a rewards earning card when it wasn’t the original method of payment, thinking tax free shopping refunds etc.

If you wait for the avois to be transferred before reversing the transaction you are basically getting a loan of avios, the card’s avios balance will then go negative so you either earn them back later or close the card

If you really want to do this and have lots of time on your hands, buy stuff from random shops and try and return them to a debit card without the staff noticing

If you have that much time on your hands I’d suggest using it to think up and test some better ideas. None of which should be shared on an open forum such as this..

Hence my sharing of silly ideas 🙂

The point I did not appreciate when I used “go back in time” that the new transaction was counted towards my £3000 monthly limit ie £1000 transaction was classed as £2000 transaction against my monthly limit
