If a credit card lender changes how it charges interest it is legally required to update its T&Cs and notify you in writing in advance – exactly as Virgin Money did before they started hitting Curve related payments with interest.

It’s not changing anything though. It’s quite obvious that paying off your Amex bill with a credit card constitutes a cash advance subject to a fee, even if it hasn’t been treated as such to date. It doesn’t require any change to the terms and conditions to start doing so without notice.
