For any Curve Metal holders, they seem to have finally extended from 6 to 12 cashback retailers, as promised when they took away insurance; and Black from 3 to 6; choose in the app
There also seem to be some new retailers – does anyone have an easier list as the one on the website says it’s being updated: https://help.curve.com/1-cashback-retailers-rk1gJoBMh
Also, does anyone know if it works abroad and at franchises (e.g. is that Aldi and McDonalds everywhere in the world? Is that franchises, even when they don’t come on your credit card as the mother brand?)
And a niche question: does “Marriott” include all Bonvoy brands? Does it even include JW Marriott?
I am 90% sure it uses a text-base match on the text field that goes on the card statement.
Therefore abroad: yes
Different name on the card statement: no
Also, the retailers list is quite…international…and clearly aimed at their non-UK cardholders, and doesn’t have separate Aldi/Lidl for different countries.
Well, it’s not *completely* text-based, as I don’t have a problem getting cashback at any of the Pret franchisees, none of which come up on any of my statement as Pret – e.g. Carebrook in Camden/Finchley/Belfast, although I’ve not tried their Dublin outlet
Also I get TfL cashback when I make online transactions, which are called Oyster on your statement
The Aldi logo on their website is explicitly Aldi Sud (UK, Ireland, Australia, China, etc) – so does that include Aldi Nord (France, Spain, etc), Aldi Hofer (Austria, Switzerland etc) and subsidiaries like Trader Joe’s? Same for Co-op and Coop – is it only the main UK and Italian Co-ops (why are they listed separately?) – what about Scotmid Co-op, Midcounties Co-op, and Coop in Switzerland or Sweden or…?
As usual with everything to do with Curve, it is… Clear. As. Mud.
Uber abroad – yes
Boots abroad – yes
So ends my evidence
Amazon Coffee (a coffee chain in Thailand) – Treated as an Amazon UK purchase. It’s text matching.
Curious what people are choosing? I rarely use my curve card to pay so don’t make a lot back in cashback.
Does anyone if this works – if i choose Morrisons. Pay at morrisons with my curve card backed with Virgin and get Virgin cashback?

Yes, it’s a double dip – 1% on top of whatever Avios or cashback benefits you get from your underlying card
You’re unlikely to make back your annual fee (unlike with Fronted, if you max out every month), but it can be material, and was part of my justification for keeping Metal when they started screwing around with the benefits
Aldi abroad: yes
Maccie Ds abroad: yes
I got 5p cashback from a Starbucks in Japan. As to why I was in a Starbucks in Japan, let’s not go there 😂
Tesco cashback triggered even on petrol purchase.
I always get het up when choosing as to whether to go for frequent but small (Boots) or infrequent but large. Deliveroo was one of mine but keen to bin it now I get 2x£5pm on Amex PRG
