Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Damaged bag travelling with BA / seating issue

  • 340 posts

Just got back from Dxb on BA , travelling in economy (gold members)

    2 issues

We prebooked seats , 32 DE which are together

At check in for whatever reason our seats had changed and my wife was put in 33 H

Desk staff couldn’t do anything as flight was full ,not very helpful tbh and wife was a little upset . luckily after speaking to cabin crew they asked someone to swap which they were happy with

    Second

When we got home , when unpacking realised bottom of case was cracked , didn’t check or notice at LHR as was no need to examine

    Case quiet old anyway

Due to the issues , whilst trivial I know , if raise a complaint online what would the outcome be in terms of avios comp (if anything is due that is)

Last flight back up to NCL from LHR in April was a chapter of errors and a dreadful CE so explained all this and tbh forgot all about it. Today a reply saying yes CE well short, we value you as a gold member and here’s 10,000 Avios. Shy bairns get nowt so nothing to gain from a reason emotionless complaint

On the seat apply for a refund of the seat fee – form on website.

On the case you have up to 7 days to report it. I think there is a form on the website but it may require a call to generate a claim number. Even if it’s an old case BA still have a liability. No harm in claiming and you can make a judgement once the claim is in the hands of their baggage service people and they get back to you. But always check your bags once you’ve gotten them off the belt.

When BA damaged the wheels on my case a few months ago I got a brand new one from them.

OP is gold so presumably didn’t pay for seats – though as mentioned above, this might help to get some avios by way of compo for the inconvenience.

Didn’t see that and assumed they had paid!
