Debit Card – “ineligible for this amount”

For as long as I can remember, I have been able to make payments to my Amex Platinum card using the Amex App and my stored debit card.
This morning my payment could not be processed as the response was ineligible for this amount! (Under£200)
I deleted the stored details and set up again but result was the same.

What has changed? Does anyone have any idea?

Amex IT does have the occasional payment wobble so it may well work if you wait a few hours and try again. Are you trying to pay more than the balance?

This happened to me last night, but I tried again immediately and it worked.

I also always pay via debit card/app, full amount on Platinum and top up on BAPP (after min payment is taken about a week earlier via DD). It must be a blip (system error) as I paid myself £180 on my Platinum and severa thousands on my BAPP and both amount went through fine
