Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Delayed Ticket refund – how to escalate

Please move if in the wrong place.
I cancelled with 10 minutes of booking 2 BA flights – thought the local currency applied to the sales price whereas it was US dollars on 20th December 2022. I chased BA for the refund by phone on 15th January 2023 ( 2 x £621.64 ). I lodged a complaint as no refund received on 2nd February, and I am still without my money. The complaints email says £729.20 is being paid to me – this also has not arrived. I have supplied screen shots, account transactions to prove costs and no receipt but have got no-where. Where do I go to next? Currently in South Africa so a call to BA is going to be a struggle with 14 hours no power a day.. Sean Doyle? Credit Card Company?

Credit card Co…. You’ve done your bit and had more than enough time.

I had exactly the same error but mine last 14 months(!). The problem with me was I part paid with a voucher, and doing a chargeback with Amex meant only the cash element was returned to me. This meant I had to go through Sean Doyle and it got sent to premium escalations team to get sorted. They were slow, but helpful.

In your case since it’s cash only id just go through chargeback with credit card. This marks the transaction as fraudulent within BA’s systems. If you still feel you want an actual refund instead of the chargeback, you can chase in your own time, but at least this way it can get sorted immediately in terms of payment relief on your bill.

In my case I had to cancel the chargeback and go through the proper channels to get my voucher retuned. This is the process that took ages.
