Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Determining fare class on new-style BA website

  • 10 posts

    Hi all
I have just booked a a flight in CW using the new-look BA booking site for the first time, and nowhere along the way did it show the fare class – it just says Business Semi Flex. Is it safe to assume this means it is not the lowest Business fare class? (I did try to look on Manage My Booking and again, there is no Fare Class shown as such (nor on the RAM MMB function)).
    Thanks in advance
    GD

It’s in Manage My Booking, click on ‘Your flight details’ then ‘select a journey’.

I’m afraid I don’t have those options in this new-look MMB for the new booking..

Try the BA app on your smartphone.

Nope – nothing! I go into the booking and go to Manage My Booking and thought that somewhere there would be a reference to Fare Class, but it only says Business Semi Flex. In this new look, there is also no option to view an E-ticket Receipt. All quite frustrating…

Not sure why fare class is important now that Avios and TP based on spend?

However, try requesting e-ticket from Finnair and see what you get

    It worked! Thanks!
The reason I wanted to know is that I plan to credit to Finnair Plus. Just for everyone’s info, sadly, BA’s Semi Flex Fare appears to be R or I class and so would accrue 150% of miles flown as AY+ Tier Points (and is not the higher Business fare class which would have credited at 250%).

The new look website is very poor.

The only way to force the desired fare class to my opinion is to use ITAmatrix by adding the following switch

F bc=d;alliance oneworld. You can play with J,C or D to determine which one will give you the cheapest price since 250% applies to all three of them with AY

Just as an update, I have just been on the phone to the BA Gold line and they have told me that with the new website it is no longer possible to find out the fare class when you book a ticket! Apparently, they MAY be able to make it visible in due course but only after the current “tweaks” to the website have bedded down!
What is typical BA is that I was told that the call centre do not have access to the “new ba website”. Not sure what that exactly means but all very strange!

Probably just means they are getting the customers to do the beta testing and identify most (or at least some) of the bugs before they risk breaking the call centres!

The reality is that the call centres will be using a completely different system.
