I want to combine my partner’s Virgin points with mine. Is that possible? Do you Virgin do family accounts like BA? Thanks!

What is is you are tyring to do?

For example if you want to use your partners miles to book a flight for yourself there are ways to do that.

Yes, as long as both account holders are flying, the call centre is usually happy to mix and match irrespective of the scheme rules.

I want to combine my (minimal) points with my partner’s many miles but I’ll just be flying on my own. He’s working in the US for a fixed period of time and I want to go out there a few times.

So sounds like I can’t do that.

Call and ask nicely… VAA call centre staff get a lot of lee-way in comparison to other airlines. Doesn’t hurt to ask!

How does this work for Gold/Silver members? I just became Gold through a status match but could not find any option in the Virgin site that allows me to combine points.

You call up and ask. I don’t know if Instant Golds (which is what you’ll be when you’re matched in) get the perks – you should do. It will lapse if you don’t complete your challenge or your status expires.
